Overhead Line Network Designer Location: Ireland Overview Sparktel is currently recruiting for an experienced Overhead Line Network Designer to join a growing engineering team working on major power, utilities and renewable energy infrastructure projects across Ireland. The successful candidate will be involved in projects from early route development and design through to construction. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop overhead line designs across LV, MV, HV and EHV network environments.
  • Undertake route assessments and develop OHL solutions.
  • Complete design, line profiles, sag and tension calculations and conductor selection.
  • Produce engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare comprehensive design packages for planning, tender, construction and as-built requirements.
  • Review project specifications, technical standards and client requirements to ensure designs are compliant.
  • Provide OHL design support to renewable energy projects, including wind, solar and battery storage developments.
  • Manage design changes, technical queries and RFIs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support to construction and commissioning teams.
  • Provide technical input to tender submissions, including relevant design and cost information.

Experience Required

  • 3+ years' relevant experience in overhead line design, power engineering or utility infrastructure.
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering
  • Understanding of renewable energy infrastructure and grid connection projects.
  • Experience producing technical drawings, calculations and engineering documentation.
  • Experience with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation
  • Transmission line experience across 38kV, 110kV, 220kV or 400kV networks.
  • Full clean driving licence.
