Red Chair Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Travel Agent to join our client’s team in Tralee, County Kerry. The successful candidate will be passionate about travel and committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will work closely with customers to understand their individual travel preferences, requirements, and budgets, creating personalised and memorable holidays from the initial enquiry through to departure.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced customer service or sales professional with a genuine interest in travel, or an established travel professional looking to develop their career within a customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with customers to understand their travel requirements, preferences, expectations, and budgets.
- Design and recommend personalised holidays and travel experiences tailored to individual customer needs.
- Arrange and book flights, accommodation, transfers, premium packages, and tailor-made itineraries.
- Provide knowledgeable advice on destinations, resorts, hotels, attractions, and unique travel experiences.
- Identify opportunities to enhance customers’ holidays through upgrades, premium packages, excursions, events, transfers, and additional experiences.
- Maximise sales opportunities through effective upselling and cross-selling while ensuring recommendations are relevant to the customer.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with customers and provide a consistently high standard of service.
- Manage bookings, amendments, payments, and customer queries accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure customers receive clear and timely communication throughout the booking process and leading up to departure.
- Stay informed on destinations, travel products, promotions, offers, and emerging travel trends.
- Work towards and achieve agreed sales and customer-service targets.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer service, travel, sales, tourism, hospitality, or another customer-facing environment.
- Previous experience selling holidays, flights, accommodation, or other travel products would be highly advantageous.
- Strong ability to understand customer needs and recommend suitable products and experiences.
- Proven sales ability, with confidence in identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell.
- Experience selling higher-value products or services would be a distinct advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, particularly when managing bookings and customer requirements.
- A genuine interest in travel and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
- Commercially minded, with a proactive approach to achieving sales targets.
Salary & Benefits
- €32,000–€35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Additional performance-related bonus.
- Permanent position based in Tralee, County Kerry.
