Location: This role is based on the company premises in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork. Job Summary
As an Apprentice Toolmaker you will train to manufacture, maintain, and repair precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and moulds used in CNC machining and medical device manufacturing. The role combines hands-on workshop experience with structured apprenticeship training, working alongside experienced toolmakers and engineers in a certified, high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities
During the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will learn to
Manufacturing & Machining Produce and repair precision tools, moulds, jigs, and fixtures. Operate conventional and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders). Work with CAD/CAM systems as skills develop. Technical Interpretation & Measurement Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Use precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges). Support tool design, modification, and troubleshooting tasks. Workshop Operations & Quality Follow established safety, quality, and cleanroom procedures. Work in line with ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 quality management systems. Assist senior toolmakers and engineers with daily workflow tasks. Learning & Development Complete SOLAS-approved apprenticeship phases (on-the-job and off-the-job training). Build competence in machining, 3D design, and problem-solving.
