DIRECTOR OF NURSING Location: County Clare Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Salary: Competitive, based on experience Medforce are currently recruiting for an experienced Director of Nursing on behalf of a well-established nursing home in County Clare. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nursing professional to take a senior leadership role within a welcoming residential care setting, supporting older people to enjoy a high quality of life in a safe, comfortable and homely environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider management and care team to ensure the highest standards of clinical care, resident wellbeing, governance and regulatory compliance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strong clinical and operational leadership across the nursing home.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing and social care tailored to the individual needs of each resident.
  • Ensure clinical practices comply with relevant legislation, HIQA regulations, standards and best practice.
  • Monitor and review individual care plans and ensure appropriate clinical oversight.
  • Lead clinical audits and ensure appropriate follow-up and implementation of recommendations.
  • Support the induction, training, development and ongoing performance of nursing and care staff.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and person-centred care.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, families, staff and external healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure effective communication across the nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage complaints appropriately, ensuring they are investigated, documented and resolved.
  • Support the effective management of budgets and resources.
  • Ensure appropriate health and safety, fire safety, infection prevention and control and risk management procedures are implemented.
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness, catering, maintenance and overall environment are maintained.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection and workforce planning.
  • Ensure all nursing staff maintain appropriate professional registration with NMBI.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered General Nurse with current NMBI registration.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with older people within the last 6 years.
  • A recognised post-registration management qualification in nursing, healthcare or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management role within health or social care.
  • Proven experience in clinical and operational management.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
  • Strong decision-making skills with a results-focused approach.
  • Good understanding of financial and resource management.
  • Ability to motivate and develop staff while promoting a positive team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to the needs of the service.
