Fire Prevention Officer – Public Sector (Part Time).

Our client, a Public Sector body, is seeking a Fire Prevention Officer to join their team on a part time basis, working 17.5 hours per week across the South East region. The successful candidate will provide risk management advice to protect staff, patients and the public from fire, ensuring statutory compliance with fire health and safety legislation across the region's buildings and premises.This is an initial 1 year contract, with great opportunities for extensionBenefits30 days leave (pro rata)17.5 hours per week€61,000 salary (pro rata)Hybrid workKey ResponsibilitiesCarry out regular inspections of buildings, means of escape and fire-fighting equipment, ensuring correct location, marking and working order.Draw up and review fire orders and evacuation schemes for premises across the region, with particular regard to non-ambulant and mentally ill patients.Inspect high fire risk premises and equipment, reporting any breaches of the fire prevention code.Instruct staff on fire hazard avoidance, fire alarm and equipment operation, evacuation and fire brigade liaison.Arrange and oversee fire drills, and monitor water supply and hydrants for fire-fighting purposes.Advise on Health Technical Memorandums, Fire Protection Standards and Building Regulations, and support their implementation.Maintain accurate records of inspections, fires, drills and fire-fighting equipment, reporting quarterly to the Estates Manager.Monitor the health and safety performance of contractors on construction-related activity, and support the Estates Safety Management programme.Provide fire safety input to the Minor Capital Programme and assist in developing health and safety training for maintenance staff.RequirementsQQI Level 8 qualification in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health & Safety or Building Services/Building Survey (or equivalent), with 5 years' experience in a comparable fire and safety role. Experience in the construction and maintenance of buildings, or in the installation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and heating services.Technical experience in fire safety risk assessment, preparing and submitting fire safety certificate applications, and conducting fire safety training.Full driving licence and access to transport, with travel required between sites.High standard of technical knowledge and managerial capacity to discharge the duties of the post.For more information or to apply directly email [email protected] or apply directly on Indeed.SONCATB
