Graduate Estimator Location: Longford, Co. Longford Job Type: Full-time Experience: Graduate / Entry Level An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Estimator to join a well-established structural steel engineering and construction company based in Longford. The company has a strong reputation within the structural steel industry and delivers projects across Ireland, the UK and international markets, providing services including structural steel design, fabrication, erection, cladding and metal decking. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to develop a career in estimating, commercial and construction project management within a specialist engineering environment. The Role Working as part of the Estimating team, you will receive hands-on experience in preparing estimates and tenders for structural steel projects.

Your responsibilities will include

Assisting with the preparation of accurate and competitive project estimates. Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications. Taking off quantities and assisting with project cost calculations. Assisting with obtaining and reviewing supplier and subcontractor pricing. Supporting the preparation of tender submissions. Liaising with internal engineering, procurement, contracts and project teams. Developing an understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection costs. Assisting with tender queries and clarifications. Maintaining accurate estimating records and documentation. Learning how to assess project requirements, costs and commercial risks. Requirements Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Commercial Management or a related discipline. Recent graduate or someone with limited professional experience looking to develop within estimating. Strong numerical and analytical ability. Good attention to detail. Ability to read and understand technical drawings would be advantageous. Strong communication and organisational skills. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office. Commercial awareness and an interest in the construction/engineering industry. Ability to work as part of a team and meet deadlines. Strong willingness to learn and develop. Previous estimating experience is not essential. Training and support will be provided to the successful graduate.
