HGV Mechanic - Dublin.

We are currently seeking a HGV Technician to join our clients team in Dublin on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out repairs, maintenance, and servicing on a wide range of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), including refuse collection vehicles (RCVs), hook loaders, chain skip loaders, as well as artic and rigid curtain-siders. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of engines, cabs, chassis, RCV bodies, lifting equipment, and weighing systems. Candidates with general HGV experience and a willingness to learn specific skills related to RCVs and associated equipment will also be considered.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform routine servicing and repairs on HGVs, covering engines, brakes, suspension, hydraulics, electrical systems,

and specialist equipment such as packing systems, lifting equipment, and weighing systems.

• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and carry out necessary repairs on vehicle systems, including

mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.

• Prepare vehicles for CVRT tests, LOLER tests, and 13-week inspections, ensuring all work meets regulatory and

safety standards.

• Investigate and resolve complex issues to ensure all vehicles meet operational standards.
• Replace worn or defective parts such as tyres, brakes, steering systems, and other critical components.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure all vehicles comply with legal and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including inspections, repairs, and parts used, in line with

company policies and legal requirements.

• Work closely with the workshop team and third-party contractors to prioritise workloads and ensure minimal

downtime for vehicles.

• Attend to roadside vehicle breakdowns when required.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines, ensuring the workspace remains clean and safe.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as an HGV technician or similar role, with hands-on expertise in heavy-duty vehicle

maintenance.

• Relevant mechanical qualifications (QQI or equivalent).
• Comprehensive understanding of HGV systems, engines, and diagnostics.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment and maintenance tools.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations within a mechanical workshop.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to work independently or collaboratively.
• Full driving licence (HGV licence preferred but not mandatory).
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
