Junior Geotechnical Engineer Overview An established engineering organisation is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to take a leading role in the delivery of ground improvement projects. The role is primarily based in Cork, with flexibility for candidates located in the Leinster region. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of geotechnical and ground improvement works. This position involves both site-based and office-based responsibilities and requires close collaboration with technical, operational, and commercial teams. The role includes technical delivery, execution oversight, quality control, and ensuring compliance with safety, design, and engineering standards. Key Responsibilities Oversee projects and ensure successful delivery. Contribute to and support all aspects of tendering, design, planning, execution, and reporting of ground improvement works. Prepare, collate, and review documentation for client submissions, including: Tender documents and offer letters Design reports and calculations Drawings Safety documentation Production reports Lift plans Certification and associated documentation Coordinate workload and resources with operations and commercial teams. Liaise with technical and administrative staff to ensure smooth day-to-day project operations. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Maintain internal systems for tracking equipment, personnel, and HSE reporting. Requirements Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology (BEng or equivalent), plus either: A postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology (MEng or MSc) with 2–5 years’ relevant experience; or 2–5 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering, piling, ground improvement, or site investigation.

Strong understanding of geotechnical design principles, including

Ground improvement techniques Foundation behaviour Retaining structures Site investigations Slope stability assessments Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. Experience with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS or Slope/W is advantageous. Willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland as required. Strong time management skills and attention to detail. Ability to adapt to changing project demands and work effectively under pressure. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
