Title: Ocean Freight Forwarder Location: Cork Terms: Full-time permanent, Package: €42,000 DOE Target Applicant: 1–3 years of recent forwarding experience. We are seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Forwarder to join a busy logistics operation in Cork. This role will be responsible for coordinating ocean freight shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring customers receive a reliable, efficient, and professional service. Working arrangement: On-site initially, with the potential for hybrid working after six months, subject to business and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities Manage end-to-end ocean freight forwarding activities, from booking and documentation through to delivery. Coordinate with shipping lines, customers, hauliers, customs teams and overseas agents. Prepare and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial documentation and related freight paperwork. Monitor shipment schedules, transit times and milestones, proactively addressing delays or operational issues. Obtain and review freight rates and assist with quotations for customers. Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure all systems are updated in a timely manner. Liaise with customers regularly, providing shipment updates and resolving queries professionally. Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth movement of cargo and excellent customer service. Ensure shipments comply with relevant customs, trade and company procedures. Identify opportunities to improve processes, service levels and operational efficiency. Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in ocean freight forwarding, shipping or international logistics. Good knowledge of ocean freight processes, documentation and shipping terminology. Experience dealing with shipping lines, freight agents, customers and transport providers. Strong understanding of import/export procedures and relevant documentation. Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Confident communication skills, both written and verbal. Good IT skills and experience using logistics, freight forwarding or transport management systems.
