A residential disability service based in Galway is currently seeking a Person in Charge (PIC). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social care professional to step into a leadership role supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the service, leading a dedicated team while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Person in charge

Oversee the day-to-day operation of the residential service Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care and support Promote independence, choice, dignity, and community inclusion for service users Lead, support, and supervise staff members to achieve positive outcomes Ensure compliance with HIQA regulations, national standards, and organisational policies Manage staffing, rostering, budgets, and resources effectively Oversee safeguarding, risk management, incident reporting, and quality improvement initiatives Build positive relationships with service users, families, multidisciplinary teams, and external stakeholders Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development

Requirements for the Person in Charge

Relevant Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Nursing, or a related discipline Minimum of 3 years’ management or leadership experience within disability, residential, or social care services Strong knowledge of HIQA regulations and standards Proven ability to lead and motivate teams Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills Full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle Desirable Experience Experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism Previous experience in a Person in Charge or senior management role Knowledge of safeguarding, positive behaviour support, and person-centred planning What’s on Offer?
