Senior Financial Accountant.

Our client, one of Ireland’s leading Civils Contractors, is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their established Finance team based in Galway. This role sits within a long established and international construction group, supporting a portfolio of engineering and construction projects. The position is hands on and will involve managing core accounting functions while providing financial insight to senior leadership. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong construction industry experience and proven people management capability.Key Responsibilities• Manage day to day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations• Prepare financial statements to trial balance stage and produce monthly management accounts for directors• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy across all financial records• Support budgeting, forecasting, cashflow analysis, and variance reporting processes• Liaise with external auditors and prepare documentation for year end accounts and statutory audits• Ensure compliance with tax obligations including VAT and PAYE PRSI returns• Support senior management in overseeing accounting operations across affiliated companies• Coordinate and support a finance team of up to five staff, including workload planning and development• Work closely with commercial and project teams on job costing, project financial analysis, and risk minimisationRequirements• Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience• Previous experience within construction, engineering, or a related sector• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems• Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills• Proven ability to take initiative and adapt within a fast paced environment• Comfortable contributing to financial strategy, cashflow management, and process improvementWhy Apply with Sonas?• Expertise Specialists in Engineering and Technical talent solutions• Market Insights Access to the best salaries, rates, and benefits on offer• Direct Connections We ensure your CV gets noticed by the right hiring managers• Seamless Process One point of contact for applications, interviews, and negotiationsFor more information or to apply directly email [email protected] or apply directly on Indeed!
