About this role
Job Title: Senior Reserving Actuary Location: Ireland Working Model: Remote Abrivia are currently recruiting for a Senior Reserving Actuary to join our client, a specialist international insurance and reinsurance group operating within the legacy/run-off market. This is a senior, commercially focused reserving position working across a diverse range of non-life insurance and reinsurance portfolios. You will assess how liabilities are developing, challenge reserving assumptions and provide senior actuarial insight into the management and potential acquisition of legacy books. Your Role Take ownership of reserving analysis across a diverse portfolio of insurance and reinsurance liabilities Review and challenge reserving methodologies, assumptions and reserve selections Assess loss development and reserve uncertainty across both long-tail and short-tail business Analyse how different portfolios and classes of business are developing over time Monitor the performance of existing portfolios and provide clear actuarial insight on reserve movements and emerging trends Provide actuarial input into potential legacy transactions and portfolio opportunities Contribute to the assessment and due diligence of acquired or potential portfolios where relevant Work closely with claims, finance, risk and senior management on portfolio performance and actuarial matters Assess complex or unfamiliar portfolios and identify the key drivers of reserve uncertainty Communicate actuarial conclusions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Your Skills Qualified Actuary Strong General Insurance or P&C actuarial background with significant reserving experience Experience across multiple classes of non-life insurance Strong understanding of loss development, reserve uncertainty and reserving methodologies Ability to challenge assumptions, methodologies and reserve selections at a senior level Commercially minded with the ability to operate independently and provide clear actuarial judgement Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders Experience within legacy/run-off, reinsurance, the London Market or speciality insurance would be advantageous but is not essential Exposure to long-tail casualty, liability, Property, inwards reinsurance, transaction due diligence, portfolio transfers or capital modelling would be beneficial Candidates from actuarial consulting backgrounds will also be considered, particularly those with broad General Insurance experience across multiple clients and classes Travel to London and Europe will be required Should this position be of interest to you please call Tadhg at 01 9052560.
