About this role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a Primary Care Team based in South Dublin, working across adult primary care, adult medical, and adult disability services. The successful candidate will manage a varied and complex adult caseload, providing high-quality, evidence-based assessment and intervention for individuals presenting with communication and swallowing difficulties. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team in a community-based setting.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Speech and Language Therapist
Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with communication and/or swallowing disorders Manage a diverse caseload including stroke, neurological conditions, progressive disorders, and intellectual disabilities Deliver dysphagia assessment and management in line with best practice guidelines Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, care planning, and case discussions Work collaboratively with GPs, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other MDT members Provide education and support to patients, families, and carers Supervise and support staff grade SLTs and students where appropriate Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with CORU and organisational standards Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Senior Speech and Language Therapist
Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy Current CORU registration Minimum of three years post-qualification experience Experience working with adult populations, including dysphagia management Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills Excellent communication and organisational abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Desirable Criteria Experience in Primary Care or community-based services Experience working with adult disability services Postgraduate training in dysphagia or neurological rehabilitation Experience supervising junior staff or students What’s on Offer Senior-grade salary aligned with HSE pay scales Diverse and rewarding adult caseload across multiple service areas Supportive multidisciplinary team environment Community-based role offering strong work–life balance Ongoing CPD and professional development opportunities
