About the Role The Senior Statutory Accountant will join Abbott's EMEA Statutory Reporting Centre of Excellence (COE), leading statutory accounting and reporting activities for multiple EMEA entities. The role will act as a subject matter expert in statutory reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and evolving regulatory requirements while driving process improvements and supporting junior team members. This position offers significant exposure to technical accounting, stakeholder management, audit support, and regional finance leadership. Due to the continued growth and expansion of our EMEA operations, Abbott is establishing a Statutory Reporting Centre of Excellence to centralise and enhance statutory reporting, compliance, and financial governance activities across the region. Location: Cherrywood, Dublin, Ireland Key Responsibilities Lead statutory accounting and reporting activities across multiple EMEA entities. Prepare and review statutory financial statements and disclosures. Prepare and review technical accounting papers and accounting position memos. Ensure compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and statutory reporting requirements. Manage relationships with auditors and key finance stakeholders. Review trial balances and statutory adjustments. Maintain and oversee local statutory ledgers and reconciliations. Monitor accounting standard changes and ensure reporting compliance. Support tax and statutory audits. Drive process improvement, automation, and control enhancements. Act as a OneSource subject matter expert. Mentor and support junior team members within the COE. Qualifications & Experience Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA or CIMA). 5+ years' experience in statutory accounting, financial reporting, audit, or technical accounting. Big 4 audit or multinational shared services experience preferred. Strong technical expertise in IFRS, US GAAP, and local GAAP reporting. Experience managing multiple legal entities within an international environment. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Experience with SAP, OneSource, and statutory reporting tools. German or Italian language capabilities are highly desirable. Ideal Candidate Profile Chartered accountant with strong technical accounting expertise. Background in Big 4, multinational finance, or shared services. Experience managing statutory audits and financial reporting cycles. Continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment.
