A progressive Irish manufacturing company is seeking a qualified Welding Inspector / Mechanical Engineer to oversee quality assurance and inspection activities across fabrication and welding operations. This role combines technical engineering knowledge with hands-on inspection duties to ensure all products meet required standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections of welded joints and fabricationsReview and interpret engineering drawings, welding procedures, and technical specificationsVerify compliance with relevant codes and standards (ISO 9606, EN 1090, AWS)Document inspection results and prepare detailed reportsReview and approve welding procedure specifications (WPS)Essential RequirementsDegree in Mechanical Engineering (Level 8 NFQ) OR CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certificationMinimum 3 years experience in welding inspection or QAStrong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Arc)Ability to read complex engineering drawingsFull driving licenceDesirableNDT certification (Level 2) in ultrasonic, magnetic particle, or dye penetrant testingExperience with EN 1090 execution class requirementsCAD software experience
