Labourers – Ground Workers – Digger Drivers.

ID Recruitment have a number of temporary construction roles on a new housing development in Headford, Galway.

These roles include

Digger Driver

• Machinery Operation: Drive and control 360-degree tracked, wheeled, or compact excavators to excavate foundations, grade terrain, and load dump trucks.
• Attachments Management: Select, attach, and operate specialized tools like buckets, hydraulic breakers, augers, and grapples.
• Site Preparation & Safety: Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade markers while checking for underground utilities and overhead power lines.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform pre-start safety inspections, clean machinery, lubricate moving parts, and report mechanical faults.
• Team Communication: Coordinate with ground crews, traffic marshals, and site supervisors via radios or hand signals. [ 1 , 2 ]

Labourers

• Site Preparation & Cleanup: Clear debris, remove hazards, and set up or clear workspaces for trades before and after tasks.
• Material Handling: Load, unload, transport, and stack building materials (such as lumber, gravel, and concrete) across the job site.
• Trade Support: Assist skilled professionals like carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, and electricians by fetching tools, holding materials, or mixing mortar and concrete.
• Tool & Equipment Operation: Use basic hand tools, power tools, and light or heavy machinery.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow site safety rules, wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Ground workers

• Site Preparation: Clear vegetation, strip topsoil, level the ground, and set up safety barriers.
• Drainage & Utilities: Install foul and surface water drainage, manholes, pipework, and service ducts.
• Concreting & Foundations: Pour concrete for footings, lay sub-bases, and erect shuttering/formwork.
• External Works: Assist in finish projects by laying kerbs, flagstones, tarmac driveways, and footpaths.

All Applicants must have experience working in construction, Up to date Safe Pass Card, Manual Handling and SOLAS CSCS 360 Degree Excavator ticket / card (for the digger driver)
