Your job search in Ireland, inside Claude and ChatGPT.
Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Irish Talents. Then ask in your own words about live jobs, employers' permit history and which permit could fit a role, and get answers with labels and links you can check.
“Find staff nurse jobs in Dublin.”
- 201,789employment permits on record (DETE)
- 12,523live roles from 603 sources
- May 2026official occupation lists
Why connect it
On its own, your assistant is guessing about Ireland.
Employers that hire international talent
On its own: Names companies it remembers, with no numbers and no dates.
With Irish Talents: Employment permits issued to 21,547 employers, year by year, from official DETE records.
Jobs open today
On its own: Cannot see today's Irish listings, or sends you off to search other sites.
With Irish Talents: 12,523 live roles from 603 sources, each labelled with what it says about sponsorship.
Permit rules
On its own: Uses lists and salary minimums from its training data, which may be out of date.
With Irish Talents: The current Critical Skills and Ineligible lists and salary minimums, with the version date.
Your own search
On its own: Starts from zero in every chat.
With Irish Talents: Reads your Irish Talents profile and keeps your job tracker up to date when you ask.
Checking the answer
On its own: Hard to tell where a claim came from.
With Irish Talents: Links to every job and employer, with the source and date of the data.
Is this the same as a custom GPT?
No. A custom GPT only knows the files it was given, and they go out of date. The Irish Talents connector looks up live data every time you ask, inside the assistant you already use, and it can read your own profile and tracker when you sign in.
Is it the same as searching the website?
The data is the same. The difference is that your assistant can combine it in one answer: a role, the employer's permit history and the permit route for the job, in plain language, with links you can check.
Get started
Three steps, about five minutes.
- 01
Create your free account
Your assistant signs in with it. Create a free account, or skip this step if you already have one.
- 02
Add Irish Talents to your assistant
In Claude: Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. In ChatGPT: turn on Developer mode, then add an app. Paste this address and sign in when asked, or let your assistant guide you with the setup prompt.
https://api.irishtalents.com/mcp/ - 03
Ask your first question
“Use Irish Talents to find three staff nurse jobs in Dublin. For each one, give me the job title, the sponsorship label and the link to apply.”
- Your assistant says it is using Irish Talents, or shows the tool it called.
- Each role has an apply link you can open.
- Each role has a sponsorship label, such as Employer sponsored recently or Not stated.

Easiest way
Let your assistant set it up with you
Paste this into a new chat. Your assistant walks you through each step and waits for you. In Claude Code it adds the server itself. Once you are connected, it checks the connection and keeps the ground rules for the rest of the chat.
Claude and ChatGPT cannot add a connector from inside a chat, so the clicks are still yours; the prompt tells you exactly where.
Help me connect the Irish Talents MCP server to the app we are using, then use it for my job search in Ireland.
Server: https://api.irishtalents.com/mcp/ (Streamable HTTP, sign in with my Irish Talents account, no API key).
1. If you can run terminal commands (for example in Claude Code), add it yourself:
claude mcp add --transport http irishtalents https://api.irishtalents.com/mcp/
then tell me to run /mcp and choose Authenticate.
2. Otherwise, guide me one step at a time and wait for me after each step:
- Claude: Customize > Connectors > + > Add custom connector. Name it Irish Talents, paste the server URL, select Add, then Connect, sign in and select Authorize.
- ChatGPT (paid plan, in a browser): Settings > Security and login > turn on Developer mode. Then add a new app, choose a public endpoint, paste the server URL, choose OAuth, select Create, sign in and select Authorize.
3. When I say it is connected, call mcp_capabilities_summary and tell me in two sentences what you can now look up.
For the rest of this chat:
- Use the Irish Talents tools for every fact about jobs, employers and work permits in Ireland. Do not answer these from memory.
- Permit history shows what an employer did in the past. Never tell me an employer will sponsor me or that I will get a permit.
- If a result is unknown or needs review, say so and tell me what detail would help.
- Include a link for every job and employer you mention. What you can do
Five things to ask your assistant
Find jobs, and see what each listing says about sponsorship
Search live roles by job title and place. Every role comes with a sponsorship label, so you know whether the listing mentions sponsorship before you open it.
Try asking
“Which jobs in Ireland mention visa sponsorship in the listing?”
“Find staff nurse jobs in Dublin and show the sponsorship label for each.”
jobs_search53 live roles mention sponsorship in the listing. Most recent:
Senior Specialist, Manufacturing Automation
Merck Sharp & Dohme Ireland · Dunboyne, Meath · Full time
The listing says: “VISA Sponsorship: Yes”.
Check an employer's permit history
See how many employment permits a company was issued, year by year, from the official records the Department of Enterprise publishes.
Try asking
“How many employment permits has Stripe been issued in Ireland since 2024? Show me the numbers by year.”
“Which employers in Galway were issued the most employment permits last year?”
company_visa_historyStripe Technology Company Ltd: 108 employment permits issued, 2024 to date.
That is permit history. It does not say whether Stripe will sponsor a particular role.
Understand which permit could fit a role
Check how an occupation is classified on the official lists and how a salary compares with the published minimums.
Try asking
“Is chef on the Critical Skills list or the Ineligible list?”
“Which employment permit could fit a staff nurse role paying 38,000 euro a year?”
permit_route_getChefs (occupation code 5434) are on the Ineligible List of Occupations, with exceptions: executive, head and sous chefs with five years' experience, and chefs de partie and commis chefs with two, outside fast food outlets.
Answer: Conditional. Whether your role fits an exception depends on its title, duties and your experience.
Source: DETE occupation lists, version effective 13 May 2026.
Get matched to live roles
Ask for roles that fit the profile you saved on Irish Talents, or describe your experience in the chat. Each match comes with the reasons for it.
Profile matches need your free candidate account.
Try asking
“Using my Irish Talents profile, find jobs that match me and explain why each one fits.”
“I'm a staff nurse with four years' experience and I'd like to work in Dublin. Which live roles fit?”
candidate_match_jobs345 live roles match. Top two:
Staff Nurse · Dublin
Score 62Job title matches on nurse, staff. Needs a permit, and our read is that a route fits.
Senior Staff Nurse · Dublin
Score 62Job title matches on nurse, staff. Needs a permit, and our read is that a route fits.
Keep track of your applications
Save roles to your Irish Talents job tracker and move them through each stage without leaving the chat. Your assistant asks before it changes anything.
The tracker needs your free candidate account.
Try asking
“Save this role to my Irish Talents tracker.”
“Move the Staff Nurse role in my tracker to interviewing.”

Setup
Step-by-step setup for your assistant
Which plans work: Works on every Claude plan. On the Free plan you can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner of your organisation has to add the connector first, under Organization settings, then Connectors.
- 1
Sign in to claude.ai or open the Claude desktop app.
- 2
Open Customize, then Connectors.
- 3
Select the plus button, then Add custom connector.
- 4
Name it Irish Talents and paste the server URL. Select Add.

Connect to Irish Talents
Claude wants to connect to Irish Talents as you.
It will be able to:
- Read Irish Talents market data (sponsors, permits, jobs, agencies)
- Analyse job descriptions you paste for sponsorship and permit signals
- Read your own profile, visa eligibility and job matches
- Update your own tracker and job search
The Irish Talents approval screen. It opens in your browser after you sign in. - 6
Back in Claude, start a new chat. Irish Talents appears in the tools menu of the chat box.
Check it worked
- Irish Talents shows as connected in Customize, then Connectors.
- In a new chat, the tools menu lists Irish Talents and it is switched on.
If something goes wrong
- Claude says it already has a custom connector
- The Free plan allows one custom connector. Remove the one you no longer use, or upgrade your Claude plan.
- The sign-in tab closes but Claude still shows Connect
- Select Connect again. If it repeats, remove the connector and add it again with the exact server URL, including the final slash.
- Claude answers without using Irish Talents
- Check the connector is switched on in the tools menu of this chat, then start your request with "Use Irish Talents to...".
Which plans work: Needs a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu) on chatgpt.com in a browser. The Free plan cannot add a custom connection. ChatGPT calls this Developer mode and labels it elevated risk, because it lets you add apps that OpenAI has not reviewed.
- 1
Sign in at chatgpt.com in a browser.
- 2
Open Settings, then Security and login, and switch on Developer mode.
- 3
Open the page where ChatGPT lists your apps (it has been called Apps, Connectors and Plugins) and select the plus button to add one.
- 4
Name it Irish Talents, choose a public endpoint and paste the server URL. Choose OAuth for authentication. Select Create.

What to ask
Requests you can copy
Job search matches on the job title, so use the title an employer would advertise.
“Find [job title] jobs in [city or county] and show the sponsorship label for each.”
“Which [job title] jobs in Ireland mention visa sponsorship in the listing?”
“Show me remote [job title] jobs in Ireland.”
“Open the [job title] role you found and summarise the requirements.”
Permit history comes from official records of permits issued to each company.
“How many employment permits has [company] been issued in Ireland? Show me the numbers by year.”
“Which employers in [city] were issued the most employment permits in [year]?”
“Which [industry] employers in Ireland have employment permit history?”
“Compare the permit history of [company A] and [company B] since [year].”
Give the real job title, the duties and the salary. The more specific you are, the clearer the answer.
“Which employment permit could fit a [job title] role paying [salary] euro a year?”
“Is [occupation] on the Critical Skills list, the Ineligible list, or neither?”
“What is the minimum salary for a Critical Skills Employment Permit?”
“My job title is [title] and my main duties are [duties]. Which occupation code fits best?”
These requests read the profile you saved on Irish Talents, so you need to be signed in with your candidate account. Needs your free candidate account.
“Using my Irish Talents profile, find jobs that match me and explain why each one fits.”
“Which employers with permit history fit my profile?”
“Run the visa eligibility check on my Irish Talents profile.”
“What is missing from my Irish Talents profile?”
You can also describe your experience in the chat. Leave out your name, contact details and anything else that identifies you.
“I'm a [job title] with [number] years' experience and I'd like to work in [county]. Which live roles fit?”
“I'm a [job title] from [country]. Which employers in Ireland with permit history could fit my experience?”
Your tracker has six stages: saved, preparing, applied, interviewing, offer and closed. Needs your free candidate account.
“Save this role to my Irish Talents tracker: [job title] at [company].”
“What is in my tracker right now?”
“Move [job title] at [company] to applied.”
“Close [job title] at [company]: I withdrew.”
Market questions use the same official permit records, grouped by city, industry or year.
“Which cities in Ireland had the most employment permits issued in [year]?”
“Which industries in Ireland were issued the most employment permits in [year]?”
“When was the Irish Talents permit data last updated?”
Want the assistant to keep to the facts every time? Start the chat with the setup prompt: it carries the ground rules as well as the setup steps.
Reading answers
What the labels and signals mean
Permit history is a record of the past
“This employer was issued 34 employment permits in 2025” is a fact from the records. It does not mean the employer will sponsor you or any particular role, and it does not mean a permit would be granted. The employer decides whether to sponsor; the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment decides on the permit. If your assistant says an employer will sponsor you, ask it to show the data behind that.
Sponsorship labels on jobs
The same labels the job pages on Irish Talents show. Not stated is the most common: most listings say nothing about sponsorship.
The listing itself mentions visa or work permit sponsorship. Read the role's own wording before you apply: the employer sets the terms.
The employer behind the role was issued employment permits in the last 12 months. That is past activity, not a commitment to sponsor this role.
The employer has employment permits on record, but none in the last 12 months.
The listing does not mention sponsorship and the employer is not named, so there is nothing to check. Most listings fall here.
The employer has no employment permits on record. Employers can sponsor for the first time, so this describes the record, not the outcome.
The listing says sponsorship is not available, or that you must already have permission to work in Ireland.
Permit route answers
Based on the occupation code behind the job title and the official lists. The answer also compares the salary you gave with the published minimums, and says so when it does not know the salary or the contract length.
- Critical Skills possible
- The occupation is on the Critical Skills list. Salary and contract length still have to meet the thresholds.
- General possible
- The occupation is not on either list, so a General Employment Permit could apply if the other conditions are met.
- Conditional
- The occupation is on a list with exceptions or extra conditions. Chef, for example, is on the Ineligible list except for named roles with enough experience. Read the official wording for your role.
- Ineligible or restricted
- The occupation is on the Ineligible list, or restricted in a way that usually rules out a permit for this role.
- Insufficient information
- The job title fits more than one occupation code. Your assistant will ask for the duties, seniority or sector to narrow it down.
Match scores
Matches come ranked with a score and the reasons for it. The score puts a list in order. It does not say how likely you are to be hired or to get a permit.
Where the data comes from
Employer permit history and statistics
Employment permits issued to companies, published by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment (DETE).
Updated when the Department publishes new figures, usually monthly. Ask your assistant when the data was last updated.
Permit lists and salary thresholds
The Critical Skills Occupations List and the Ineligible List of Occupations, published by DETE.
Each answer states the date of the list version it used.
Jobs
Live roles that Irish Talents collects from recruitment agencies and employers' own careers pages.
Re-checked several times a day. Each role carries the date it was posted and the last time it was seen live; closed roles drop out.
When an agency advertises a role for a client, the employer is often not named, so the answer can show the agency but not the company. Before you apply, read the advert through its apply link. Before a decision about your permit, check the official guidance or speak to a qualified adviser. More on how Irish Talents sources its data.
Access and privacy
What your assistant can see and do
Can read
- Public Irish Talents data: live jobs, employers' permit history, statistics, occupation lists and licensed agencies.
- Your profile: occupation, experience and preferences, to match jobs and run the visa eligibility check.
- Your job tracker: the roles you saved and their stage.
Can change
- Add a role to your tracker, when you ask.
- Move a tracked role to a new stage, when you ask.
- Your assistant may ask you to confirm first.
Cannot
- Open, edit, upload or delete your CV.
- Change your profile, email, password or settings.
- Apply for jobs or contact employers and agencies.
- See other candidates' details.
What Irish Talents records
Your conversations stay with your assistant's provider. Irish Talents only receives the requests your assistant sends to its tools. For each one we record the tool used, how long it took, whether it worked, the model your assistant reports and the one-line purpose it gives. For requests about your profile and tracker we do not record what was asked or what came back. For public searches and anonymous analysis we keep the request.
Keep personal details out of your requests
When you describe your experience in the chat, leave out your name, contact details and anything else that identifies you. Do not paste your full CV into a request. To disconnect, remove Irish Talents from your assistant's settings. Read the privacy policy.
Questions and fixes
Before you connect, and if something goes wrong
Does it cost anything?
Irish Talents is free for candidates, including the connection to your assistant. Your AI assistant's own plan may cost money: ChatGPT needs a paid plan for this.
Is this legal or immigration advice?
No. The answers describe official records and published rules. For a decision about your own case, check with the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment or a qualified adviser.
Can the assistant apply for jobs for me?
No. It can find roles, explain them and save them to your tracker. You apply on the employer's or agency's site using the apply link.
Can the assistant read or change my CV?
No. It can read the profile details saved in your Irish Talents account, but it cannot open, edit or upload your CV.
Will employers or agencies see my conversations?
No. Your chats stay with your AI assistant's provider. Irish Talents receives only the requests your assistant sends to its tools.
Which assistants are supported?
Claude and ChatGPT, with the steps on the connect page. Other assistants that support remote MCP servers with sign-in usually work too; see the technical reference. Cursor does not work yet.
How do I disconnect?
Remove Irish Talents from your assistant's connector or app settings. The connection stops working straight away.
My assistant cannot find how to sign in
Check the server URL is exactly https://api.irishtalents.com/mcp/ and that the connection is set to sign in (OAuth), not to an API key. Then remove the connection and add it again.
A tool I expected is missing
Your assistant only sees the tools your account can use. If you connected before 2 October 2026, disconnect Irish Talents and connect again to pick up the job and profile analysis tools.
"Invalid bearer token" or 401 unauthorized
Your sign-in expired or was removed. Reconnect Irish Talents from your assistant's connector or app settings.
"Rate limit exceeded" or 429
Too many requests in one minute. Wait a moment and ask again.
The assistant says it cannot find a company
Try the company's registered name, for example Stripe Technology Company Ltd, or ask the assistant to search for companies with that word in the name.
The assistant asks me for my job duties or salary
That usually means the job title fits more than one occupation. Give the main duties and the salary and it can narrow the answer down.
Still stuck? Contact us with the name of your assistant, the request you sent and the message you saw.

Agencies and integrations
Agency members connect with the same URL and sign in with their agency account. They get their own workspace tools: the anonymised talent pool, candidate unlocks (which use the monthly allowance), pipeline status, vacancies, plan and profile. Set it up from your agency workspace. Integrations that cannot run a browser sign-in, such as an ATS, can use a static key with only the scopes they need: ask us for a key.
