Project Accountant – Major International Event – Dublin

HireForce is partnering with a leading national organisation to recruit a Project Accountant who will take financial ownership of a major large-scale event taking place in Ireland. This is far from a traditional accounting position.

Reporting to the CFO, you'll sit at the heart of the event project team and help manage the financial journey from initial planning and budgeting through procurement, supplier management, cash flow, financial controls and live event delivery, before ultimately leading the financial close-out.

The Role

You'll take responsibility for

  • Building and managing the overall event budget
  • Developing forecasts and monitoring expenditure across multiple project workstreams
  • Managing cash flow and future funding requirements
  • Providing regular financial reporting to the CFO and event leadership team
  • Working closely with event teams to manage budgets and financial commitments
  • Supporting procurement, tendering and supplier management
  • Monitoring contracts, purchase commitments and supplier payments
  • Establishing strong financial controls across the project
  • Managing and reconciling multiple event income and expenditure streams
  • Identifying financial risks, variances and potential cost overruns
  • Supporting financial operations during the live event
  • Leading the financial reconciliation and close-out following the event

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strong accounting expertise with genuine project or event experience.

Ideally, you'll have

  • ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA qualification
  • 2+ years' PQE
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting experience
  • Experience working on a large-scale event, major project or complex programme
  • Experience managing significant budgets and multiple workstreams
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Experience working with suppliers and procurement
  • The ability to communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • A proactive approach and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving project environment

What's on Offer?

  • A genuinely unique finance opportunity
  • Flexible working week
  • Hybrid working
  • Direct exposure to the CFO and senior project leadership
  • Ownership of the finances behind a major 2028 event
  • Broad exposure across finance, procurement, project management, and event operations
  • The opportunity to see a major project through from planning to live delivery

If you're an accountant who has worked on large-scale events or major projects and would like your next role to be something genuinely different, we'd love to hear from you.
