About this role

Senior ERP Business Process Analyst / Client-Side ERP Project Manager

Contract role | Dublin / Hybrid | Construction, Engineering & Installation

Role overview

An established Irish construction and engineering business is seeking an experienced ERP Business Process Analyst to document current (As-Is) workflows, design practical future (To-Be) processes and define requirements for an ERP improvement or replacement programme. Following product selection, the assignment may extend into client-side project management of the implementation.

Approximately 30 staff use the core ERP system, mainly in finance and procurement, while project managers and site teams have more limited direct access. The wider environment includes specialist service management, payroll, CRM and estimating applications.

Phase 1 | Business process analysis and requirements

Objective: establish how the business operates today, identify control and efficiency gaps, and agree future processes before the ERP solution is finalised.

  • Lead workshops with Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Project Management, Site Operations, Service and senior management.
  • Map As-Is workflows, handoffs, decision points, data ownership, systems and spreadsheet-based workarounds.
  • Design To-Be processes covering approvals, controls, reporting, integration and role-based access.
  • Define and classify functional and non-functional requirements as essential or desirable.
  • Prepare realistic supplier demonstration scenarios and support RFI/RFP assessment and product evaluation.
  • Assess the practicality of improving the existing ERP environment against replacement options, using common requirements.

Phase 1 deliverables

  • Approved As-Is and To-Be process maps for agreed business areas.
  • Documented process issues, improvement opportunities, decisions and dependencies.
  • Prioritised ERP requirements register and integration/data-flow overview.
  • Gap analysis and scripted supplier demonstration / acceptance scenarios.
  • Practical recommendations for implementation scope, sequencing and business readiness.

Phase 2 | Client-side ERP project management (potential extension)

Objective: act on behalf of the client during implementation, independently of the software supplier and delivery partner.

  • Own the client-side delivery plan, governance, RAID log, decisions, status reporting and escalation.
  • Coordinate business workstream owners and internal resources; manage scope, milestones, budget and change requests.
  • Challenge unnecessary customisation and ensure agreed processes and controls are delivered.
  • Oversee migration readiness, data cleansing and reconciliation, integrations and user acceptance testing.
  • Coordinate training, cutover, go-live readiness, hypercare and transition to ongoing support.
  • Monitor delivery against the agreed business case and expected operational improvements.

Experience and background

Essential

  • 8-10+ years in ERP business analysis, process design, implementation or related transformation roles.
  • Proven delivery of As-Is / To-Be mapping and ERP requirements in a project-led organisation.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project finance, procurement, subcontractors, commercial controls and management reporting.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops, resolve conflicting requirements and produce clear, usable documentation.
  • Experience supporting ERP selection, supplier demonstrations, testing and stakeholder decisions.

Desirable

  • Construction, M&E, fire protection, engineering or installation-sector experience.
  • Experience of construction-focused ERP platforms and multi-company / European environments.
  • Prior client-side ERP project management through implementation and go-live.
  • Familiarity with BPMN, Visio, Lucidchart or comparable process-mapping tools.

Indicative engagement

Initial discovery and As-Is mapping: approximately 4-6 weeks; To-Be design and requirements: a further 4-6 weeks, with some overlap possible. Selection support will depend on the procurement timetable. Any implementation project management extension will be agreed separately after product selection.

Success measures

The assignment will be successful when business owners have approved practical process maps, essential ERP requirements and demonstration scenarios are agreed, and the organisation has a clear basis for selecting and implementing a solution without unnecessary customisation or disruption.
