Senior Field Service Engineer
The Opportunity
Baker Finn Recruitment is supporting an established medical device supplier in the appointment of a Senior Field Service Engineer. The organisation supplies advanced medical equipment to public and private hospitals across Ireland and the UK. The successful candidate will deliver maintenance, repairs, installation and technical support to customers, ensuring reliable equipment performance and a high standard of service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned and contractual maintenance of customer equipment and respond to service call-outs coordinated by the Service Desk.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment performance issues, including repairs at customer sites and, where practical, in the in-house workshop.
- Install and commission equipment at customer premises and assist with product demonstrations when required.
- Maintain and repair company and multi-vendor systems, potentially covering hardware, software, networking, operating systems and X-ray/radiology equipment.
- Provide technical support to sales activities and liaise with customers as required regarding orders.
- Maintain suitable spare-parts stock, ensure test equipment and toolkits are in good condition, and monitor calibration dates.
- Keep service documentation and systems accurate and up to date; communicate regularly with managers and colleagues.
- Stay informed of technical developments, identify training needs and follow relevant hospital protocols and procedures.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, clients and colleagues.
Qualifications & Experience
- Third-level qualification, preferably a degree in Engineering, or five years’ experience in a similar role.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Experience in a medical environment, particularly X-ray imaging or radiology equipment, would be advantageous but is not essential.
