Graduating on Stamp 1G
Stamp 1G lets eligible graduates of Irish higher education work without an employment permit for a limited period that cannot be renewed. The usual next step is an employment permit, applied for before the stamp expires.
Questions
- How do you decide a role is a graduate role?
- From the job title. A title that says graduate, intern, placement, junior, trainee or apprentice puts the role in one of the three groups. Senior titles are left out, and so are jobs about graduates, such as a graduate recruiter. A mid-level role whose description says it suits graduates is not included, because the title is where employers state the level.
- What does "Stamp 1G welcome" mean on a role?
- The advert itself says Stamp 1G holders can apply. A role without the label did not say either way, which is not a refusal. If it matters, ask the employer before you apply.
- Do I need an employment permit to work on Stamp 1G?
- Not while it lasts. Stamp 1G lets eligible graduates of Irish higher education look for and take up work without an employment permit, for a limited period that cannot be renewed. Staying on after it ends usually means an employment permit, so ask early whether an employer can apply for one.
- Does a role listed here come with permit sponsorship?
- No. Each card shows what the advert says about sponsorship, and whether the employer has an Irish employment permit record. Neither one guarantees sponsorship, so ask the employer before you rely on it.
