Civil Engineering Technician (Roads & Drainage)

Location: Kilkenny Full-Time | Permanent

Hartley People Recruitment is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician (Roads & Drainage) on behalf of an established civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Kilkenny.

The successful candidate will be involved in preparing civil engineering drawings and designs for roads, drainage and site infrastructure across residential, commercial and infrastructure projects.

The position requires strong AutoCAD skills and practical experience using civil engineering design software. Experience with MicroDrainage and Site3D would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant experience using alternative packages such as Civil 3D or InfoDrainage will also be considered.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings and technical layouts using AutoCAD.
• Produce road and drainage designs for residential, commercial and infrastructure developments.
• Develop surface water and foul drainage designs using appropriate civil engineering software.
• Prepare site layouts, road geometry, levels and associated civil engineering design models.
• Assist engineers with the preparation of planning, tender and construction drawing packages.
• Interpret engineering mark-ups and incorporate design revisions accurately.
• Ensure drawings comply with current Irish design standards, regulations and local authority requirements.
• Assist with the design of road layouts, junctions, levels and surface water drainage systems.
• Coordinate drawing information with engineers, architects and other project stakeholders.
• Maintain drawing registers, document control and revision histories.
• Support the delivery of multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Civil Engineering Technician, Civil CAD Technician, Design Technician or similar within an engineering consultancy.
• Strong AutoCAD experience is essential.
• Practical experience using at least one relevant civil engineering design package, such as Civil 3D, Site3D, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage , or a comparable alternative.
• Good understanding of road and drainage design principles.
• Experience producing civil engineering drawings for roads, drainage or site development projects.
• Knowledge of Irish design standards and regulations relating to roads, drainage and residential developments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.
• Good communication and organisational skills.

Desirable

• Experience using MicroDrainage and/or Site3D.
• Experience producing designs for residential housing developments.
• Familiarity with local authority approval processes.
• Exposure to BIM or Revit.
• Knowledge of earthworks, levels and site development design.
• Experience coordinating civil engineering designs with other disciplines.
