The salary range starts from €36,605 (18.05/hr) to €54,000 (26.63/hr) based on a 40-hour week. Salary will increase proportionately if additional hours are required. Salary offered shall be based on relevant experience and qualifications.

Job Description

HGV Mechanic role responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and trailers. The role requires advanced diagnostics and fault-finding on mechanical and electrical systems, completion of inspections and preventative maintenance, and may include maintenance of transport refrigeration units where required. The position involves working on manufacturers such as MAN, Isuzu and Scania (and comparable makes), leading and supporting junior mechanics in the workshop, ensuring all work meets safety, quality and compliance standards, and accurately completing service records and job documentation. Candidates must have the right to work in Ireland (EU/UK passport or existing right to work).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include: service, maintain and repair HGVs and trailers; carry out advanced diagnostics and fault-finding on mechanical and electrical systems; perform inspections and preventative maintenance; work on vehicles from manufacturers such as MAN, Isuzu and Scania and comparable makes; assist with maintenance of transport refrigeration units when required; lead, support and guide junior mechanics within the workshop; ensure all work meets safety, quality and compliance standards; and complete service records and job documentation accurately. Requirements

Essential: Recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or similar qualification (for example Mechanical Fitter); minimum 5 years' experience working on HGVs or commercial vehicles; strong diagnostics and fault-finding skills; ability to work independently and take a lead role within a workshop team; full driving licence; EU or UK passport or existing right to work in Ireland Desirable: previous experience with MAN, Isuzu or Scania vehicles; exposure to transport refrigeration systems; HGV driving licence
