About this role
Principal Connections has been retained by a leading provider of personal and commercial vehicles, parts and aftermarket solutions to appoint a National Parts Manager for a division of their commercial business. With an established presence in Ireland spanning more than five decades, our client is part of a privately owned Irish group and has developed a strong reputation for quality, service and customer relationships across the sector.
Operating through an extensive national distribution and dealer network, the organisation has established a significant parts business. With ambitious plans for continued growth and operational development, our client is now seeking to appoint an accomplished commercial and operational leader to drive the next phase of its development.
THE POSITION Reporting to the Operations Director, the National Parts Manager will assume overall responsibility for the strategic direction, commercial performance and operational management of the organisation’s national parts business. Based in Dublin, with responsibility for multiple locations nationwide, the successful candidate will lead a substantial, geographically dispersed team, driving a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. Central to the appointment will be the development of a high-performing national operation, supported by effective performance management, structured training and development, and consistent operational standards.
A key priority will be to deliver sustainable revenue and profitability growth through the optimisation of inventory, procurement, distribution and supply chain activities, alongside the expansion of existing and new sales channels. The successful candidate will lead the progressive centralisation of parts management and stock control across the network, establishing greater consistency, efficiency and financial discipline. They will also develop strategic relationships with manufacturers, suppliers and major customers, while overseeing budgets, pricing, margins, working capital and operational performance to maximise the commercial potential of the business.
REQUIREMENTS The successful candidate will be an accomplished commercial and operational leader with a minimum of five to seven years’ progressive management experience within automotive, commercial vehicle, industrial machinery parts distribution or a closely related sector. They will demonstrate a strong track record in multi-site operational leadership, profitable business growth, inventory and supply chain optimisation, and the development of effective distribution operations. Experience of financial management, commercial negotiation, supplier relationships and the implementation of centralised stock management processes will be particularly advantageous. A Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics or a related discipline is desirable, together with proficiency in inventory management and Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
Of equal importance will be exceptional leadership and interpersonal capabilities, with the ability to engage, motivate and develop teams across multiple locations. The appointed individual will combine strategic commercial judgement with a hands-on approach to operational delivery, bringing strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills. An effective communicator and relationship builder, they will demonstrate the credibility, initiative and resilience required to lead change, strengthen operational performance and contribute meaningfully to the organisation’s continued growth
