Part-Time Management Accountant / Financial Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant / Financial Accountant to join a growing business in a senior finance capacity. This role will focus on strengthening management information, project financial control, cash-flow forecasting and commercial decision support.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who wants to make a meaningful impact and has the potential to develop into a broader Financial Controller / Head of Finance position if desired.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and management information
• Produce P&L and balance-sheet reporting
• Prepare and maintain cash-flow forecasts
• Lead budgeting and financial reforecasting processes
• Provide project profitability and cost-to-complete reporting
• Manage WIP and job-costing processes
• Analyse budget versus actual performance and investigate variances
• Reconcile QS information with finance records
• Produce site-by-site financial reporting
• Manage and improve month-end processes
• Review VAT, RCT, payroll and balance-sheet reconciliations
• Monitor and report on working capital
• Strengthen financial controls and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Provide clear, concise financial reporting and analysis to Directors
• Support audit and year-end processes
• Improve Sage, project-costing and wider finance reporting processes
• Work closely with QS, project and management teams to support commercial decision-making
• Identify financial risks and provide practical recommendations to management

Skills & Experience

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA qualified, or a strong part-qualified candidate
• Strong management-accounting experience
• Commercial mindset with a focus on decision support rather than purely statutory reporting
• Construction or project-accounting experience is highly desirable
• Experience in practice, industry or property environments will also be considered
• Strong Excel and Sage skills
• Proven cash-flow forecasting and budgeting capability
• Experience with project costing, WIP and profitability reporting
• Ability to work effectively with QS, project and management teams
• Confident challenging variances and identifying potential financial risks
• Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see the wider commercial picture
• Able to produce concise, meaningful management information
• Ambition and capability to progress towards a Financial Controller-level position
