Project Manager – Steel.

Our client, a market-leading mechanical and automation engineering company supplying the life sciences, food and beverage, data centre and advanced manufacturing sectors, is seeking a Project Manager to take ownership of structural steelwork packages from enquiry through fabrication, delivery and erection to handover. This is a hands-on role based primarily from the office, with weekly visits to project sites, for someone who can hit the ground running on live projects from day one.Key ResponsibilitiesLead structural steelwork projects from award to completion, managing scope, programme, budget and change.Act as the main point of contact for clients, representing the company at design, progress and handover meetings.Coordinate the steelwork package through detailing, procurement, fabrication, delivery and erection.Review drawings and specifications and resolve technical queries with the design team.Liaise with the Production Manager on workshop loading, resourcing and material availability.Liaise with the Quality Control Lead on inspection points and non-conformances.Carry out weekly site visits to monitor erection progress, coordinate with erection crews, subcontractors and plant, and resolve issues on the ground.Ensure RAMS, lift plans and erection sequences are in place before works commence.Control project costs, monitor margin, and manage variations and commercial risk.RequirementsDegree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Manufacturing or a related engineering discipline.Essential: experience in construction or structural steelwork project management.
