We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager, Alliance and Collaborations Accounting to join our team in Cork, within the broader U.S. Controllership organization.
Reporting to the Director, Alliance and Collaborations Accounting, based in Cork, this role is responsible for supporting the accounting, control, and reporting activities related to assigned alliance and collaboration arrangements. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders and partnership with the Associate Director, Director, and Technical Accounting team as needed to support sound accounting application, timely issue resolution, and high-quality financial reporting. This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional looking to deepen their technical accounting expertise while taking strong ownership of execution across assigned arrangements and contributing to operational excellence across the broader collaboration accounting portfolio.
Essential Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end accounting and reporting process for assigned alliance and collaboration arrangements, with scope determined by the complexity of the underlying agreements and transactions
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities for assigned accounts, including journal entries, account reconciliations, royalty payments, and other collaboration-related transactions
- Prepare and review variance analyses, reporting schedules, and other support used in management and external reporting processes
- Support the accounting onboarding and ongoing execution of new and existing collaboration arrangements, including milestone payments, cost sharing, royalties, and other contractual rights and obligations
- Prepare accounting analyses and memoranda for assigned matters, applying internal policy and U.S. GAAP accounting guidance and partnering with the Associate Director, Director, and Technical Accounting as appropriate on complex or judgmental areas
- Interpret and operationalize contractual provisions relevant to assigned arrangements and escalate higher-risk or more judgmental matters as appropriate
- Support the Associate Director and Director on the execution of the most complex arrangements through analysis, schedule preparation, issue follow-up, and stakeholder coordination
- Partner with Alliance Management, FP&A, Corporate Development, Technical Accounting, Legal, and other business partners to support day-to-day execution and timely resolution of accounting issues
- Coordinate internal and external audits, balance sheet reviews, and control activities for assigned areas
- Support the preparation and review of budget and forecast inputs related to collaboration arrangements
- Lead, execute, or support process improvement initiatives, special projects, and other ad hoc collaboration accounting activities
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Extensive relevant accounting experience
- Big 4 trained, with ACA or equivalent qualification, and a BA or BSc degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in a multinational organization, preferably within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or another highly regulated industry
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review accounting for complex transactions or arrangements and to apply accounting guidance to contract-driven activities
- Experience reviewing and interpreting contracts and evaluating the related accounting implications, with the judgment to escalate complex or novel matters appropriately
- Proven ability to prepare accounting analyses, memoranda, disclosures, and reporting schedules with accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and build productive working relationships
- Self-motivated, organized, and accountable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and timelines in a fast-paced environment
