The VDC Operations Lead role
As VDC Operations Lead, you’ll grow our Virtual Design and Construction department across Ireland, the UK and Europe. Core services include 3D BIM modelling, Scan to BIM, BIM coordination, 4D visualisation, 5D cost integration and VDC reporting.
The role combines business development with technical leadership. You will identify project problems that VDC can solve, win and scope work with contractors, developers, consultants and public clients, and manage delivery with our VDC production team in Brazil. For combined service needs, you will connect the VDC team with Strata’s planning, project analytics, delay analysis and project controls teams.
What you’ll do
- Identify and approach main contractors, specialist subcontractors, developers, design consultants and public bodies in Ireland, the UK and Europe that could use Strata’s VDC services.
- Work with clients to identify project problems such as site clashes, rework, unreliable existing-condition information, poor design progress visibility or cost uncertainty, and show where VDC can provide a practical solution.
- Present our VDC offer to technical and commercial audiences, including 3D BIM modelling, Scan to BIM, BIM coordination and clash detection, 4D visualisation, 5D cost and quantities, and VDC reporting.
- Translate client problems into clear VDC scopes and proposals, working with our team on effort, timescales and pricing.
- Act as the day-to-day link between European clients and the Strata VDC team, agreeing requirements, BIM execution plans and deliverables.
- Connect the VDC team with Strata’s planning, project analytics, delay analysis and PMO teams when clients need broader support.
- Represent Strata at industry events in Ireland, the UK and Europe, CPD sessions and professional bodies, and produce VDC case studies and technical content for each market.
- Feed market intelligence back to the VDC team, including client demand by country, competitor positioning and local workflow requirements such as national BIM standards, UK BIM Framework practice or local languages.
What we’re looking for
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related built environment discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years in the construction industry, including at least 2 years hands-on in BIM or VDC.
- Proven experience using VDC tools.
- Previous business development, account management or pre-construction experience with revenue or pipeline targets.
- Understanding of construction planning software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, plus project analytics, PMO and delay analysis.
- Experience working with or for contractors, consultants or public clients in Ireland or the UK, and an existing network in at least one of these markets.
- Willingness to travel regularly to the UK and Europe.
- Full driving licence
- Required technical knowledge: You should be confident discussing the core VDC services we deliver and able to translate them into practical solutions for technical and commercial audiences. This includes:
- BIM and coordination: 3D BIM modelling, multidisciplinary model review, clash detection, issue management and coordination workflows.
- Digital delivery: Scan to BIM, point cloud conversion, accuracy and level of detail, 4D sequencing and 5D cost, quantity and cash-flow integration.
- Information management and reporting: ISO 19650 principles, BIM execution plans, common data environments, VDC reporting and client-ready 4D and 5D outputs.
Advantageous
- Chartered status with Engineers Ireland (CEng MIEI) or a UK institution such as the ICE.
- Experience with offshore delivery teams.
- BIM or VDC management experience on large infrastructure, data centre, pharmaceutical or residential projects in Ireland, the UK or Europe.
- ISO 19650 certification or equivalent training.
- Familiarity with the UK BIM Framework, Irish public sector BIM requirements and contractor BIM use on live projects.
The Type of Person Who Will Thrive Here

- Explains technical work clearly in plain language
- Operates with autonomy and follows through on commitments
- Likes problem solving in a high-growth environment
- Enjoys experimenting with AI and new technology to find smarter ways of working
