What this list is

A published list of employments, indexed by SOC code

The Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment publishes the Ineligible List of Occupations as a table with four columns: SOC-3, Categories of employment, SOC-4 and Employment. The version reproduced here is effective from 13 May 2026, when SI 213 of 2026 came into effect.

The SOC code is how DETE indexes each row, but the row wording is what describes the employment. That distinction matters: 48 of the 190 listed rows carve out explicit exceptions, so the code on its own does not describe the position. Each entry below shows the published employment text alongside the code.

A listing here is information about how an occupation is classified on a government list. It is not a decision about any individual application, and it does not replace reading the current official page or taking qualified advice.

One further row on the official list — “Domestic operatives” under “Work in the private home” — is published without a SOC code and therefore has no unit-group page to link to.
